Russian National Flag Day was celebrated yesterday at Ishwardi in Pabna through various arrangements.
The day-long activities included children's drawing, panel discussion, quiz competition on Russian culture and heritage, distribution of prizes and cultural programs.
Alumni and Friendship Association of People's Friendship University of Russia organized this colorful event at Swapnadwip Resort in Ishwardi of Pabna under the initiative of Digo International.
Students of various schools welcomed the guests yesterday afternoon with small flags of Bangladesh and Russia in their hands. Later they were welcomed with flowers. The guests arrived at the venue with the national flags of Russia and Bangladesh. At this time, the national flags of Bangladesh and Russia were shown respect and the national anthems of both countries were performed.
Pavel Dvoichenkov, director of the Russian House in Dhaka, spoke as the chief guest at the discussion meeting that was held later. Andrey Starkov, former councilor of the Russian Embassy in Dhaka, Rubela Yuliana, Russian official of Rooppur project, former MP of Pabna-4 seat Sirajul Islam Sardar, ULAB University Professor Dr. Ramit Azad, Khairul Group of Industries Director Khairul Islam, Ishwardi Upazila Health Complex Resident Medical Officer Dr. Shafiqul Islam Shamim, and Chief Coordinator of Pakshi BPD College Principal Akhtar Anzam Hossain Don spoke as special guests.
